Clos Siguier Cahors 2016

"The Black Wine of Cahors.” In contrast to the lighter rosy Clarets synonymous with the Bordeaux exports of the 1600's to 1800’s, the southwest Cahors subregion continues to produce wines rich in texture, inky and opulent, with rich aromatics. This offer is an excellent representation of a region steeped in history, and a beautiful execution of its traditional varietal; Malbec. Approachable in the glass and rich with dark fruits, earthiness, and subtle herbal notes on the nose, this wine comes to life on your palate with surprisingly smooth tannins and hints of black tea.

Operated under the watchful eye of Gilles and Pauline Bley, the family has been growing wine for several generations in this location. The admittance of their son, Baptiste, to agricultural school, all but ensures another generation will carry on the minimalist, organic, winegrowing beliefs of the Bley family.
